Toowoomba not-for-profit, Ability Enterprises is spreading social good across the region, adding commercial cleaning services to their diverse social enterprise portfolio.
An Ability Enterprises representative said the added work has led to ten new jobs, expanding their team to over 90 staff.
“We have been working with QBuild, a commercialised business unit of the Queensland Government, providing cleaning services” the spokesperson said.
“Our existing commercial systems and processes has been a natural fit for the work, complementing our waste management and maintenance services.”
Since 2012, Ability Enterprises has worked alongside more than 320 people facing barriers to employment, providing a social enterprise vehicle and paying full, award wages.
“We are proud to work with partners, like QBuild, who recognise the good social enterprise can contribute to the business community.”
Ability Enterprises delivers contracts with Toowoomba Regional Council, Carers Queensland and the Queensland Government, to name a few. In 2019, the champion for social enterprise won three awards at the inaugural Buy Queensland Awards, successfully competing alongside commercial businesses.
“A big thank you to QBuild for their support and we look forward to what 2020 will bring!”
